Participants record the greatest distance possible during their chosen duration while running, walking, hiking, or competing in a ruck division. The course is an out-and-back loop of exactly 2 miles (one mile out, one mile back) on a short-grass/gravel farm road. Only fully complete laps count toward distance. There is one main aid station at the start/finish with food for overnight participants. Course-side camping and open access to the site are allowed during the event week.

Every participant receives a medal. Solo competitors who complete 100 kilometers or more receive a buckle. Ruck participants can earn bonus patches. The 24-hour relay is open format with exchanges allowed only in the exchange area at the start/finish after completed laps; teams compete in all-male, all-female, or coed divisions (coed requires at least two female members). Registration pricing is listed between $91.10 and $415.75, including a $20.75 fee; relay registration refunds previous members $10 each time a new team member registers.
