Logistics and course details
The full marathon and other races run on former rail-trail surfaces (hard-packed earth and gravel). The marathon follows the D&L and Lehigh Gorge rail trails and maintains a steady 0.5-1% downgrade for most of the distance. Cell phone service is limited on the trail. Bikers monitor marathon miles 12-26 and will contact ATVs or EMS if a runner needs pickup. Portable toilets are provided at start/finish and at specific mile locations for each event. Parking options include pre-paid premium parking at the Jim Thorpe Train Station lot (weekend rate noted as $25/day) or free off-site parking with shuttle at Jim Thorpe Area High School; non-train marathon runners use a White Haven park-and-ride. There is no day-of packet pickup; designated bib pickup days and a mailing option are available. Time limits: half marathon 3:30, marathon 6:30. Volunteers receive a event T-shirt and a donation is made to partnered charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
