The John Jay Community Trail Race takes place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Cross River, NY (40 N Salem Rd, 10518). The event program includes the following distances and age rules:
- 5k : open to ages 7–99
- 4k Jay Walk
- Kids Jay Dash : 200 m, open to ages 2–11

Course and additional information
The 5k course starts on the lower fields of the John Jay campus, goes into wooded trails beside the middle and high schools, and finishes on the John Jay Contest Track & Field next to Route 121. The trails run through woods and include hilly sections. The 4k walk follows most of the same trail but skips approximately 1 km of the southern hill loop; walkers begin after the 5k runners enter the woods. The Kids Jay Dash is held on the track after the main events and covers 200 meters.
The trail was developed and built by student and community volunteers as a home course for John Jay cross country teams. Animals are not permitted on school grounds except for service animals within the ADA definition. Organizers accept volunteers and donations, and limited pre-registration shirt giveaways are noted for early registrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
