Course, format, and awards
The course is a 4.167 mile loop with about +45 ft elevation gain per loop. Runners complete one loop each hour for the chosen race length. A runner who does not complete a loop in the hour or chooses not to start the next loop is removed from that race. The final loop, called the Legacy loop, is timed and used to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places; it is timed even if only one runner remains. All runners who complete at least one loop receive a finishers medal. Runners who complete 12 loops receive a custom leather patch beanie for 50 miles; 24 loops earn a leather patch beanie for 100 miles. Rules prohibit artificial aid (including trekking poles) and pacers; restrooms are the only aid exception on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
