Just Survive 125
Just Survive 125 is listed as a 200K ultramarathon held in Hobe Sound, FL. The course is an out-and-back from Hobe Sound Beach to Lake Okeechobee following the Lake to Ocean trail. Entry is limited to 25 runners and the event has a 48 hour time cutoff. Registration closes on December 15.
Course and logistics
The route is mostly single-track, remote and rugged. The trail passes multiple ecosystems, including sand dunes with scrub oak and sand pine, pine flatwoods, palmetto and oak hammocks, cypress swamp and wet prairies. Reported wildlife includes deer, alligators, otters, owls, snakes, bobcats, coyotes and various wading birds. Weather and conditions can vary widely, from around 80+ degrees and dry to about 40 degrees and very wet while bushwhacking between blazes.
Runners must be self-sufficient and navigate the course. There are four 5-gallon drop buckets placed roughly 15.5 miles apart for personal supplies; the race crew places and monitors these buckets. The event does not allow crews, pacers, aid stations or GPS watches to keep runners on course. Finishers who complete the course within the rules and under 48 hours receive a buckle and a long-sleeve technical finisher shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
