Event overview
The L.A. Chinatown Firecracker is a community running, walking and bike event weekend in Los Angeles, CA. The 2026 edition is set for February 28 - March 1 and marks the event's 48th anniversary. The organizer is L.A. Chinatown Firecracker Run Committee, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by volunteers. Proceeds are reinvested to support local elementary schools and other nonprofit organizations. The start line is listed at 943 N. Broadway in Chinatown.
Events and logistics
The weekend includes in-person and virtual options across multiple distances:
- 50 mile bike ride
- 20 mile bike ride
- 5K run/walk (timed)
- 10K run/walk (timed)
- Kiddie run (open to ages 12 and under)
- PAW'er dog walk
- virtual versions of bike, run, kiddie and dog walk events
The 5K and 10K courses are USATF sanctioned. Registered participants receive a custom Lunar New Year T-shirt, a finisher medal, a goodie bag, a Lunar New Year race bib, one beer at the beer garden for those 21 and older, and free chow mein on Saturday from 10am-2pm. Bag check, hydration stations and post-course refreshments are available. Personalized bibs require registration by January 29, 2026. Virtual event registration closes February 1, 2026.
