Lake Murray Sprint Triathlon : April 19, 2026, Dreher Island State Park
The event at Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity, SC includes a Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Relay, Aquabike, and Aquathlon. It is part of the South Carolina Triathlon Series. Published entry fees are: Sprint Triathlon $85, Sprint Relay $150, Aquabike $65, and Aquathlon $65. Prices increase after December 31, 2025.
Course details and distances
- 750 meters swim (lake, one clockwise loop)
- 16 miles bike (one loop)
- 5 kilometers run (one loop with out-and-back spurs)
The swim is one clockwise 750 meter loop in the lake; wetsuits are legal and water temperatures are expected in the low 70s. Depending on wind, swimmers may encounter light to moderate chop and a small current. The bike is a single 16 mile loop on mostly rural roads; road surfaces are generally good with a few rough areas. The course has five turns marked with pavement arrows and directional signs, with police and volunteers at key intersections. The 5k run is a single loop with several out-and-back spurs, described as relatively flat and shaded, allowing athletes to see other competitors on the course.
