Larch Madness Trail Races
The Larch Madness Trail Races, held at Loup Loup Ski Bowl near Twisp, Washington, offer challenging trail running events amidst the stunning fall colors of golden larches. Distances include 5K, 15K, 25K, and 50K, with elevation gains ranging from 1,300 to 18,200 feet. The courses feature steep climbs, rugged terrain, and significant off-trail sections, making them demanding even for experienced runners.
The 5K is moderately difficult and suitable for beginners, while longer distances require strong endurance and good traction footwear. The event includes aid stations, dispersed camping, and a post-race party. It supports the Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation and honors the local Indigenous peoples.
