Event format and rules
The event uses a Last One Standing format. Participants run a 4.18-mile loop each hour and must return to the start corral before the hour ends. Runners who do not complete a loop within the hour are out of the race and recorded as DNF. When a runner finishes a loop within the hour they may start the next loop only if they are in the start corral at the beginning of the next hour.
A small crew of up to two people may be stationed at the race starting area. Organizers give whistle warnings at 3, 2 and 1 minute before each loop start. Failure to line up in the starting corral or to start a loop at the sounding of the bell results in disqualification. No non-competitors are allowed on course, and competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use restrooms. Runners must carry their own on-course aid; no aid stations are on course. No artificial aids or non-competitor pacers are allowed. Assigned bibs must be worn on the front and visible at all times. No refunds, transfers, or deferrals.
