Lookout Mountain Trail Race
The Lookout Mountain Trail Race, held at Covenant College atop Lookout Mountain, Georgia, features challenging courses through scenic single-track trails. The event offers three distances: a 50-mile ultra, an 18-mile race, and a demanding 10K. The 50 and 18-mile routes share much of the course, which includes rugged climbs, runnable sections, and descents, passing through diverse landscapes such as rhododendron and hardwood forests, creeks, and the impressive 120-foot Lula Falls.
Runners enjoy spectacular views from exposed bluff lines, with visibility of up to five states on clear days. Aid stations provide hot soup and Southern hospitality, enhancing the race atmosphere. The 10K is noted for its steep climbs and creekside trails, making it a tough but rewarding challenge.
Proceeds support Wild Trails, a nonprofit focused on trail conservation in the Chattanooga area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
