Course and logistics
Courses are mostly singletrack with sections of rocky and smooth trail, some mountain-bike singletrack, and small amounts of dirt, gravel, or paved road. There are five unique aid stations; all are stocked with water, hydration mix, and light food. Aid stations #1, #2, and #5 provide warm food. The 100K route includes nine total stops along the out-and-back course.
Race rules and services: 100K runners must carry a pack or hydration vest, a space blanket, and a headlamp. Trekking poles are allowed. Pacers are permitted for 100K runners on the return at specified aid stations; only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time and there is no shuttle support for pacers. A shuttle from Downieville to the 50K start is available for a fee. Downieville has limited lodging; informal tent camping at the start area is possible but facilities are minimal.
