Event overview
The Mesa Falls Marathon event takes place in and around Ashton, Idaho, with the scheduled date of July 18, 2026. Marathon and Half Marathon courses are point-to-point and begin on Scenic Highway 47 in the Targhee National Forest and finish in the city of Ashton. Short races start and end at the North Fremont High School track. The event is not a Boston qualifier.

Course and services
The marathon course uses mixed surfaces: the first 14 miles are on blacktop, 3.2 miles are packed trail along Warm River, and the final 13.6 miles are pavement. The course starts at about 6135 ft elevation and finishes at about 5253 ft for an overall elevation loss of 882 ft. There is a notable uphill section from mile 17.1 to mile 19.9 with about 300 ft of elevation gain over 2.8 miles. Aid stations are located about every 2 to 2.5 miles and supply gels, energy bars, sports drinks, water, fruit, and sports lube. Restroom facilities and port-a-potties are available at several points on the courses and at the finish. The entry fee includes a long-sleeved tech shirt, a finisher’s medallion, bus transportation to the start, and a huckleberry milkshake for finishers. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
