The Mines of Spain 100 is a trail ultrarunning event in Dubuque, Iowa, based at Louis Murphy Park and using the Mines of Spain Recreation Area. Distances offered:

Registration opens January 1, 2026. Time limits are 33 hours for the 100 mile and 23 hours for the 100 kilometer.
Course and policies
The race follows a marked roughly 20 mile loop that starts and finishes at Louis Murphy Park and spends most miles on dirt, grass and rock trails within the Mines of Spain Recreation Area. The 100 mile comprises five loops (about 14,000 ft total elevation gain) and the 100k comprises three loops (about 8,400 ft total elevation gain), with each loop containing approximately 2,800 ft of elevation gain. The route includes short pavement connectors and features views of the Mississippi River, Horseshoe Bluff, grass prairies and hardwood forests. Trail surfaces and grades vary from steep, technical sections to flat single track and rolling grassy stretches.
The race allows distance switching; moving up to the 100 mile requires paying the difference and has a one-month advance deadline, while switching down is allowed through pre-race packet pickup. Refund and deferral rules: 100% deferral or 50% refund available through June 30, 75% deferral through August 31, and pregnancy deferral eligibility through August 31. No refunds after June and no deferrals after August. Bib transfers are not allowed. The organizers may modify the course or cancel for safety or trail conditions without issuing refunds.
