Minnesota Voyageur Trail Ultramarathon

Website

The Minnesota Voyageur Trail Ultramarathon, established in 1982, is one of the oldest 50-mile trail ultras in the U.S. Held in Carlton, Minnesota, the rugged out-and-back course traverses Jay Cooke State Park and challenging woodland trails northeast to Duluth and back. Runners experience scenic views of Lake Superior and cross the iconic Swinging Bridge over the St.

Louis River. The race features 5,000 feet of ascent and descent, with aid stations providing water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks, though runners must carry their own cups and supplements. The event starts and finishes at Carlton High School, which also hosts race-day festivities.

Weather can vary widely, from hot and humid to cool and wet. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
