Mississippi Trail 50
The Mississippi Trail 50 is an ultramarathon event held in the De Soto National Forest near Laurel, Mississippi, featuring distances of 100 miles, 50 miles, 50K, and 20K. The course runs primarily on gently rolling pine forest terrain along the Longleaf Horse Trail, consisting mostly of single-track trails with some double-track logging roads. The 100-mile race is a challenging all-or-nothing event with a 30-hour cutoff, while the 50-mile and 50K races have a 12-hour limit and allow participants to switch to shorter distances mid-race, making it beginner-friendly.
Finishers receive mementos, with belt buckles awarded to 50- and 100-mile finishers. The event offers on-site post-race food and is known for its supportive atmosphere and well-stocked aid stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
