Mogollon Monster 100 : Pine, Arizona

The Mogollon Monster is a weekend trail event near Pine, Arizona, on the Mogollon Rim. It features an ultramarathon and a shorter trail race that use single track, forest roads, and rim-top trails. The course runs mostly along the Mogollon Rim with elevations between about 5,200 and 8,000 feet. Weather in mid-September can include large temperature swings and possible afternoon thunderstorms.

Course, services and rules

The main event is a point-to-point mountain ultramarathon with substantial climbing and rugged, technical sections such as the Highline, Donahue, and Myrtle trails. Aid stations, drop bags, crew zones, and limited parking are located at specified points on course. Crewing is restricted to designated crew zones; some aid stations have no crew access. The 100 mile race requires a qualifying prior finish of at least a 50 mile race and an 8-hour pre-race volunteer service requirement. The shorter race has no crew or pacer support. Medical and radio check-in systems are used and live race tracking is provided.
