Mountain Fork Half Marathon
Mountain Fork Half Marathon is a 13.6-mile race beginning and ending at the High Knob Observation Tower in Norton, Virginia, perched at about 4,200 feet. The loop runs through the Mountain Fork watershed largely on Forest Service roads, with a total elevation gain of about 1,600 feet. The course is OPEN, with vehicles on the road throughout, so runners should stay visible around curves.
The finish is at the tower’s approach road. The day features sweeping, high-elevation views from High Knob and a panorama of multiple states. Proceeds support trail development and maintenance for the Flag Rock Area Trails and High Knob.
Aid stations and logistics are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
