Mt Hood Trail Runs

The event offers three trail distances:

  • 50 miles
  • 50K
  • 25K

The races take place July 11–12, 2026. The 50-mile and much of the 50K are run on the shaded Pacific Crest Trail and include views of Mount Hood. The 25K follows single-track and double-track trails around Clackamas and Timothy Lakes. The race is noted for volunteer support and a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere.

Course, facilities and policies

The Start/Finish is at the Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station near Timothy Lake, about 20 miles south of Mount Hood. Parking is allowed off-road on portions of Forest Service Road 42 with posted signs; some sections near the Pacific Crest Trailhead and Joe Graham Campground do not allow parking. Timothy Lake has more than 150 campsites; camping is not allowed at the Clackamas Lake Guard Station Compound. The nearest motels are in Government Camp, about 21 miles from the start.

Registration opens January 3 and closes July 4; fees are listed as TBA. Races often fill and a wait list is used when races are full. There are no transfers and no refunds; cancellations more than 30 days before race day receive a 50% credit toward a future Go Beyond Racing event, 30 days or less receive no credit. Optional merchandise can be pre-ordered until June 1. Every finisher receives a Mt Hood Trail Runs pint glass. Horses may be encountered on the multi-use trails.
