Event details
The New Beginnings Turkey Trot is a community running event held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Sheridan, Michigan. The event features a 5K distance and supports the New Beginnings Resale Shoppe; all proceeds go to that organization. Registration is available in advance and closes on November 26, 2025. Entry fees are: ages 1-12 $5, ages 13 and older $20 if paid before Thanksgiving day; the registration fee on race day increases to $25. The event will not provide T-shirts this year, but there will be special giveaways and door prizes.
Course and awards
The course meets and finishes at the Sheridan Community Center, 205 Saint Clair Street, Sheridan, MI 48884. The route heads east out of town to Beardsley Road, uses a measured turnaround to complete the 5K, and returns to the Community Center. Runners and walkers start separately. Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in two age groups: 12 and under, and over 12. The first person to cross the finish line receives the title "Top Turkey."
