Event overview
The WCRC New Year’s Day Hangover Classic is a road race held on January 1, 2026, at Salisbury Beach, MA. The event includes two distances:
- 10K
- 5K
Both races start and finish on the same line and use start and finish chip timing. The courses run entirely on beachfront roads, are described as flat, and do not include running on the beach. The race is held regardless of typical January weather unless roads are closed by police; this has not occurred in the race’s 44-year history. Race entry fees are non-refundable. Course maps for the 10K and 5K are provided as downloadable PDFs.
Organizer and proceeds
The races are organized by the Winner’s Circle Running Club (WCRC). Proceeds will benefit the club’s charitable activities and its youth and adult running programs. The WCRC is USATF certified, an affiliate member of the RRCA, and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. A post-race party with music and beer is planned at a location to be determined, and some participants choose a post-race ocean plunge. Registration pricing is listed at $35 per event with a scheduled price increase after October 31, 2025. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
