The New Year's Day Peanut Butter Chip Chase is a 5K walk/run held on January 1, 2026 in Temple, New Hampshire. The event is sponsored by the Souhegan Lions Club and has been run for nearly 50 years as a local New Year tradition. The club uses proceeds to support sight and hearing needs, scholarships, and emergency assistance in the towns of Temple, New Ipswich, Greenville, and Mason. Race results are scored by North Star Timing.
Course, fees and amenities
The course is described as a scenic country route with rolling hills. Dogs are not allowed in the race. Organizers encourage participants to bring and use reusable water bottles to reduce single-use plastics.
Early bird registration (September 1 through October 31) is listed as Adult $25 and Youth (ages 1-16) $20. Regular pricing (November 1 through January 1) is listed as Adult $30 and Youth $25; shirts will be offered to the first 100 registrants and preferred sizes will be accommodated when possible. A separate walker division will not be offered this year. Homemade cookies and soup are planned to be served during the awards and prizes ceremony.
