The Newport Rhode Races take place in Newport, Rhode Island on Saturday, April 18, 2026, with the start/finish at Easton’s Beach (175 Memorial Blvd). Race options include:
- 26.2 mi Marathon
- 13.1 mi Half Marathon
- 5K 5K
- 1 mile Beach Mile
- Virtual Full Marathon, Virtual Half Marathon, Virtual 5K
The full and half marathon courses are USATF certified and the marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Race amenities include gender- and race-specific tech shirts, finisher medals for the half and full marathon, free race photos, RaceJoy live participant tracking, post-race recovery services (including massages) and access to post-race showers at the Newport County YMCA. An RRCA certified race director oversees the event.
Course and logistics
The full marathon is a 26.2 mile route with total ascent listed as 747.42 ft and a maximum elevation near 15.75 ft. The first half passes seaside views, historic mansions and rocky shorelines; the half marathon follows the same initial 13.1 miles. The 5K heads up Memorial Blvd, turns onto Cliff Dr., passes residential areas, then returns down Memorial Blvd. The Beach Mile is an out-and-back on Easton’s Beach and includes uneven sand conditions.
Aid stations are located roughly every 2 miles and offer water, Nuun electrolyte drink, and at some stations Gu energy gels and bananas; port-a-potties are available at each aid station. Pace groups are provided for set goal times for both marathon and half. Official time limits are: Marathon - 6 hours, Half - 3.5 hours, 5K - 1 hour, Beach Mile - 30 minutes. There is no parking at Easton’s Beach or on Memorial Blvd; participant parking is assigned to Middletown lots with shuttle service to the start.
