Event overview
The Nipmuck South Trail Race takes place on June 14, 2026 in Mansfield, Connecticut. The event is a trail running race of about 15.7 miles on the Nipmuck Trail. The start location is at Mansfield Hollow State Park, off Bassets Bridge Road, and the course winds to Old Turnpike Road (off Route 44). Shirt orders can be added during registration and must be placed before May 22.
Course and race details
The course is an out-and-back that follows the Fenton River for much of the route. There are three water stops along the trail and support to assist runners at three road crossings. Trail features include several small bridge crossings, a climb to a 50 ft cliff, fields, and woods. Organizers modified the course to bypass a missing iron bridge and removed the lollipop at the turnaround to keep the distance about the same.
Organizer and beneficiaries
The race is organized by the Shenipsit Striders, a nonprofit trail running club. Proceeds are designated for Connecticut trail stewardship organizations, including the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, Joshua’s Trust, and Northern Connecticut Land Trust. The event is part of the Blue Blazed Trail Running Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
