Event overview
The Prospect Polar Bear Half Marathon & 5K is part of the Never Stop Running Foundation NYC Parks Winter Series (#4) and takes place on January 24, 2026 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (Park Side Ave & Parade Pl). The event offers in-person and virtual participation and awards a Polar Bear T-shirt and a Polar Bear medal to participants. Proceeds benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Course, logistics and recognition
Both routes use a USATF certified circuit in Prospect Park. Distances offered:
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles (4 loops)
- 5K - 1 loop
The start is located south of Duck Island adjacent to St. Paul’s Place, roughly 365 meters northeast of the finish. The finish is at the Grecian Shelter, the Peristyle. The half marathon provides on-course splits with live time tracking and split photos; runners must pass through the finish line on each loop for accurate splits. Amenities include an informal bag check area, bathrooms within a few minutes’ walk, porto-johns near the finish, hydration at the finish line, and refreshments provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Virtual participants may log their time and upload up to five photos during the event window; mailed bibs are available as an add-on.
