NYCRUNS Frozen Pigeon 5K : Overview
The NYCRUNS Frozen Pigeon is a 5K road race held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The event includes race-day bib pick-up in a Festival Area located in the Nethermead and offers a tech shirt and a finisher medal. Results will be emailed and posted online after the race. Awards are given to the top three male, female and non-binary finishers overall (by gun time). Age group awards (by net time) are given to the top three in each group: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Course, logistics and policies
The course is just under one full loop of Prospect Park with a final sprint up Center Drive to the finish and is USATF-certified. NYCRUNS uses pace-based start corrals (AA-F); corral assignments come from the runner profile in the NYCRUNS dashboard. The Festival Area is accessible via Center Drive or Well House Drive and includes bib pick-up, bag check, bathrooms, and swag distribution. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18" x 24") or one provided by the organizer. Hydration and electrolyte fluids are provided on course, with electrolyte drinks and cans of smartwater at the finish. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are offered. The event follows a no-refunds, no-transfers policy; members may withdraw for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not permitted and time limits apply on course.
