NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K : Event overview

The NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY, on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The event benefits CAMBA, a community-based organization that serves over 80,000 people a year with programs such as food assistance, homelessness prevention, affordable housing, adult literacy, job readiness, and college access. The organizer lists example donation impacts: $250 for baby supplies, $500 for emergency food, $1,000 for job training and certification, and $2,500 to support a first-generation college student.

Course, logistics and policies

The course covers just under one full loop of Prospect Park with a final sprint up Center Drive and is USATF-certified. The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is accessible via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. Start corrals use a pace-based system (letters AA-F) and are located on Well House Drive; corral assignment is based on the pace listed in a runner’s NYCRUNS profile.

Race-day amenities include bag check (one single clear bag, provided if needed; 18" x 24"), portable bathrooms, water and electrolyte fluids on course, cans of smartwater at the finish, post-race hydration, bagels with schmear, fresh fruit, and a tech shirt (distributed on race day only; sizes not guaranteed). Bibs are picked up in the Festival Area on race morning using a unique QR code; mailed bibs are available for members or for a fee, subject to registration and address rules. Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers (by gun time) and to the top three in each age group by net time: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Policies include no refunds/no transfers, no strollers or dogs, and race time limits. Pricing for members ranges from $25 to $48 and for non-members from $25 to $60 depending on registration timing.
