Course and logistics
The marathon is an out-and-back on the Oak Ridge Turnpike using the bike lane/shoulder, with less than 600 ft total elevation gain and a USATF certification (code TN21010MS). The half marathon is a point-to-point on a highway with a bike lane/shoulder and less than 400 ft total elevation gain. Runners will share the road with light vehicular traffic; headphones are prohibited. The first part of the race occurs before full daylight, so participants are required to wear high-visibility clothing, reflective gear, and carry a headlamp or flashlight until daylight improves.
Aid and transport Aid stops are provided at multiple points on course, but competitors are expected to be largely self-supported and should bring fuel and supplies as needed. Participants should note cut-off times are strict: marathon 4:00 and half marathon under 2:00. Limited return transportation from the finish back to the start may be available.
