About the race
OBX Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Run is a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Southern Shores, NC, celebrating its 16th annual edition on November 27, 2025. The event offers a 5K and a 1-mile Fun Run, plus a virtual option. The atmosphere is family-friendly and community-driven, with pancakes for all participants, raffles, and themed finisher medals; the top male and female finishers receive Thanksgiving pies.
Proceeds benefit OBX GO FAR, a local nonprofit promoting healthy habits and youth running programs. The 5K is a point-to-point course starting behind the Town of Southern Shores complex and finishing at Southern Shores Crossing; the Fun Run is out-and-back.
