Event
The ORRC Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo is a family-oriented running event held on November 27, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. The main course is an untimed out-and-back 5K that starts near the Forestry Center and the MAX station, heads toward the International Rose Garden, and finishes inside the zoo at Elephant Plaza. Children’s events follow the 5K at the Elephant Plaza.
Distances:
- 5K
- 1/8 mile (Tot Trot, ages 0-4)
- 1/4 mile (Gobble Gallop, ages 5-10)
This course has mostly uphill or downhill segments with very little flat. The event is noncompetitive: there is no official timing, no medals, and no age-group awards. A clock will be present at the start and finish.
Logistics and entry
Registration for non-ORRC members is capped at 2,300 entries; ORRC members have no registration limit. There is no day-of-race registration for the events. The zoo is closed to the general public for the event; a race bib is required for entry and must be worn. Zoo amenities such as train, carousel, and concession stands will not be open, and animal viewing is not guaranteed.
Every entrant in the 5K and kids events receives a beanie hat and a chocolate turkey. T-shirts and long-sleeve tech shirts are available by pre-order through November 1. There is no aid station on the course; water and food are available at the finish. Parking near the zoo is free until 9:30am, then metered. Strollers are allowed; pets and bikes are not permitted. Drop bags are monitored inside the Cascade Grill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
