Courses, aid and logistics
All distances start and finish at the Cerro Coso Community College gym parking lot. Bathrooms and showers are available in the gym on race day. Across the road is a grassy area with shade trees and picnic tables.
The 30K and 50K use loop courses on rolling desert terrain over dirt roads, with elevation varying between about 2400 ft and 3500 ft. Nine aid stations are listed as well stocked with water, Skratch, cookies and similar items; participants are advised to carry a water bottle between aid stations. Gracie's aid station is located 24.8 miles on the 50K course and 15.1 miles on the 30K course; there are cutoff points at Gracie's and at the finish. The 10K course goes through the old Goldbug Mining area and connects with the 30K route near Gracie's aid station; that aid station provides water and electrolytes. All finishers receive a handmade ceramic medal; there are overall and age-group awards for the 30K and 50K, plus a military division award and several multi-finish recognition items. Rules include age minimums (50K: 17; 30K: 16), no pets on course, and non-transferable, non-refundable fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
