Event overview

The PCT 50 is a 50-mile trail race on the Pacific Crest Trail in the Cleveland National Forest, east San Diego County. It is scheduled for June 6, 2026, and is part of the SoCal Ultra Grand Prix Series. This is the 44th running of the PCT 50. The course begins near 3,000 feet elevation and reaches about 6,000 feet in the Laguna Mountains, with a total of approximately 7,500 feet of elevation gain; about 2,500 feet of that gain occur in the first part of the course.

Course and logistics

The course is an out-and-back route mostly on single-track trail with numerous climbs and some rocky sections. Fully stocked aid stations are located at miles 6.4, 13.7, 17.5, 22.7, 27.3, 32.5, 36.3, and 43.6; Tailwind will be available at every aid station. Crews are permitted at Penny Pines only; drop bags must be labeled and will be available at Penny Pines. Per’s Cabin aid station is accessible to crews only by trail; vehicles should not be driven into Per’s Cabin. Pacers are allowed starting from the second pass through Penny Pines or from Per’s Cabin on the return. There is a 13.5 hour overall cut-off and additional cut-offs at intermediate aid stations.
