About the race
Pain in Moraine is a 24-hour trail running event held at Moraine State Park's South Shore in Portersville, Pennsylvania. The race features nearly perfect 10K loops (6.2 miles) with about 723 feet of vertical gain, covering Pleasant Valley, Hilltop, and Sunken Garden trails. Runners can complete as many loops as they wish within the 24-hour period, with loop tracking done manually for safety.
The course may vary slightly depending on trail conditions, either hugging the lake or using a parallel drier trail. The event encourages a grassroots atmosphere, allowing participants to set up base camps near the start/finish area.
