Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000
The Peoria Jaycees' Firecracker 5000 is a festive 5K race held annually in downtown Peoria, Illinois, along the scenic Riverfront Trail. Celebrating its 45th year, this flat 3.1-mile course features one water station and starts and finishes near the former Hooters location on Southwest Water Street. Participants enjoy chip timing, refreshments including subs, donuts, snacks, and water, with adults 21+ receiving beer tokens.
The event embraces a patriotic atmosphere with runners encouraged to don red, white, and blue. Post-race, there is an optional color run. Awards are given for overall and age group top finishers, making it a fun and competitive Fourth of July tradition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
