PhoMo 50K : event overview
PhoMo 50K is a trail ultramarathon held in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves, starting and finishing at the Piestewa Peak Cholla Trailhead. The race is limited to 50 participants. All entrants receive a commemorative t-shirt and other swag; sign-up must be completed by 10/20/2025 to receive the race shirt. The event takes place rain or shine and there are no refunds. Free parking is available at the trailhead. Training runs and a packet pickup with a shakeout run are planned prior to the race; exact packet pickup details will be announced.
Course and logistics
The course is unmarked; participants use GPX coordinates uploaded to watches or smartphones for navigation. The route covers about 31.2 miles / 50 km with approximately 6,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. Trails are rocky and often technical, with very limited shade. Aid and water logistics: full aid stations are planned at Miles 9.9 and 26.2 (Dreamy Draw area); additional water fountains and restrooms are available at 40th St Trailhead, Dreamy Draw Trailhead, North Mountain Visitor Center, and Piestewa Peak Drive. Crew access is allowed at accessible trailheads and pacers are permitted from the first pass through Dreamy Draw. Runners will be manually timed and must check in with an aid station volunteer at Dreamy Draw on both passes. Top overall male and female finishers receive an entry into Old Pueblo 2026.
