Pikes Peak Marathon

The Pikes Peak Marathon, established in 1956, is the oldest continuously held marathon in the United States. This challenging race takes participants from Manitou Springs, Colorado, to the summit of Pikes Peak, reaching an elevation of 14,115 feet, and back down, covering a total of 26.2 miles. The event includes a significant vertical ascent of approximately 7,800 feet along the historic Barr Trail.

Alongside the marathon, the Pikes Peak Ascent, which is a 13.3-mile race to the summit, has gained popularity since becoming a separate event in the 1980s. The next marathon will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2025. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
