Event details

The Point Mugu Trail Run is scheduled for April 4, 2026 at the Ray Miller Trail Head in La Jolla Canyon, Malibu, CA (near 9000 W. Pacific Coast Highway). It is Race #3 of the SoCalTrail "Trail 1/2 Series" of six half-marathons in 2026. Distances offered:

  • 13.3 miles (half-marathon)
  • 6.9 miles (10k)

The event includes a finisher medal and same-day results. There are age-group and overall awards at a post-race festival. On-site amenities listed for participants include a beer garden (21+), breakfast tacos with a vegan option, post-race sports massage by Vision For Enrichment, free course photography, and professional medical support. All SoCalTrail races are cupless. Parking is free on Pacific Coast Highway; limited on-site parking may be available for purchase.

Course and on-course services

The course starts at the Ray Miller Trail and ascends about 3 miles of ocean-view switchbacks, follows the Overlook Fireroad, and drops into Sycamore Canyon via the Backbone Trail. After a faster 2-mile section, the route climbs the Fireline Trail back up for a Ray Miller downhill finish. The 10k turns around at the top of Fireline. Course climb and distance figures: the half-marathon has 2,150 feet of elevation gain and the 10k has 1,240 feet of gain. All aid stations are stocked with Skratch Labs hydration. Aid station mile locations are given as Mile 6.5 (Sycamore Canyon), Mile 9.9 (Fireline), and Mile 10.6 (Ray Miller). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
