The Port Washington Thanksgiving Day Five Mile Run on Thursday, November 27, 2025, is a 50th-year community road race in Port Washington, NY. The course is five miles long and runs through the rolling hills of Sands Point and Port Washington, with the final two miles downhill and flat. The finish is in Manorhaven Park overlooking Manhasset Bay. The event benefits the Community Chest of Port Washington and supports 29 local charities as part of the Run for the Red Feather. The first-place male and female runners receive a $1,000 grant prize to donate to one of the Community Chest charities. All registrants receive a long-sleeved T-shirt and all finishers receive a medal.
Logistics, rules and awards
Online entry is open to ages 9 to 99 and the field is capped at 3,500 participants. Entry fee listed at the time of posting is $45 ($30 for ages 9-21). Race packet pick up (includes T-shirt and race bib) is at the Port Washington Adult Activities Center, 80 Manorhaven Boulevard, on the two days before the race and on race day. The event is held in all weather unless police close the roads; fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. For safety, baby strollers, skateboards, bicycles and dogs are not permitted; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Timing and results are provided by SRC Timing; awards are based on gun time and net times are also posted. Free parking is available at Soundview Marketplace; the Manorhaven Park lot is not open to participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
