Event overview
The Prairie Spirit Trail event is an out-and-back trail running series based in Ottawa, Kansas. The course follows a rails-to-trails corridor on primarily crushed limestone with short sections of asphalt through towns. Runners travel south from Ottawa to designated turn points - Iola for the 100 mile, Welda for the 100K, Garnett for the 50 mile, and Richmond for the 50K - then return to the Ottawa finish. The course is described as flat and accessible to crew.

Manned and unmanned aid stations are placed roughly every 5 miles; manned stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, snacks, soup, sandwiches and drop-bag access, while unmanned stations offer water only. Pacers are allowed for the second half of all events. Race headquarters and packet drop location is at Celebration Hall, 1737 South Elm, Ottawa, KS. Finishers receive distance-specific belt buckles or medals; overall male and female winners receive additional awards. Additional services include post-race meals, complimentary race photos, merchandise pre-order options, nearby hotels within about 10-15 minutes of the staging location, and primitive camping in the grass lot across from Celebration Hall.
