Predator and Prey 5k

The Predator and Prey 5K is an annual running event held at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, DC. This scenic and challenging race covers a 5-kilometer course through the zoo’s hilly terrain within Rock Creek Park, featuring natural hills and views. Participants run along the outer vehicle road, up the North Road hill, and inside the zoo, passing animal exhibits such as the Asia Trail, Primates, Bird House, and Elephant Trails, finishing near Lion-Tiger Hill.

The event supports the zoo’s animal care and conservation programs and includes chip timing, medals, and event shirts. It welcomes runners 18 and older and limits registration to 500 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
