Event overview
The Pretzel City 5K takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Freeport, Illinois at Krape Park (1799 S. Park Blvd). The event distance is 5 km. The entry fee is $30. Registration opens January 12, 2026. The event listing notes 200 spots remaining and is open to participants ages 99 and under. The race is part of the Rockford Road Runners circuit. Course and logistics
The course uses flat roadways and park paths that wind through Krape Park. The route begins in the parking lot near the mini golf and baseball field, runs along Yellow Creek, passes the Krape Park waterfall and twin caves, crosses two bridges, exits the tree-lined south park entrance, and returns. Refreshments and awards are provided after the race at the Gunkle Shelter. The course is certified by USA Track and Field (IL-12088-JW) and is recognized by RRCA. A course map is provided as a PDF.
