The 50th Annual Race for the Grasshopper is a 5K held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cowpens National Battlefield in Gaffney, South Carolina (4001 Chesnee Hwy, Gaffney, SC 29341). The course is a single loop on the paved road within Cowpens Battlefield. The listed entry price for the 5K is $30; the price increases after October 31, 2025. The event page notes this is the 50th edition of the race and also marks the country's 250th anniversary.
Logistics and awards
Early packet pick up is scheduled the day before the race at Gotta Run Spartanburg. Race day packet pick up is at the Cowpens Battlefield office parking lot. No race day sign up is available. The organizer does not offer refunds or deferrals; the event may be rescheduled in case of unsafe weather. A course map and a course video are provided by the organizer. Awards include top 3 overall in open, masters, and grandmasters categories. Age group awards are presented in the following divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 & over.
