Race for the Planet : April 19, 2026
Race for the Planet takes place in Kure Beach, NC, with the event venue at Battle Acre Park, 1610 Fort Fisher Blvd. South, Kure Beach, NC 28449. All race proceeds support the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher through the NC Aquarium Society. The event offers three race options:
- 5K (in-person)
- VIRTUAL 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run (timed)

Registration prices listed are $30 for the in-person 5K (includes race shirt and aquarium admission on race day), $30 for the virtual 5K (includes race shirt), and $24 for the 1 Mile (includes race shirt and aquarium admission). Packet pick up is available Friday, April 17 at Fleet Feet Crossroads, 3852 Carolina Beach Rd Suite 120, Wilmington, NC, and on race day at Battle Acre Park. The 5K awards are 3-deep in overall male and female, masters male and female, and multiple age groups from 10 and under through 70+. The 1 Mile awards are top 3 male and female. A Sustainabili-TEE is included with registration; it is 100% organic cotton printed with water-based ink. There is a no-shirt option that donates $10 of the fee to aquarium sustainability initiatives. The event also features a mobile household hazardous waste and electronics recycling drive and offers a team discount for groups of 10 runners.
