About the race
RACE ON THE RUNWAY is a Currituck County, North Carolina running event offering three races: Tarmac 10k, Flight Deck 5k, and the 1-mile Taxi-Trot. Courses run along a taxiway around hangars and onto a mix of trails, dirt and paved roads, with lake and wildlife scenery. Runners and walkers are welcome, with strollers and leashed dogs starting at the back.
All finishers receive medals, and age-group and overall trophies are awarded, plus a special wing medal for the 1-mile. Proceeds benefit Kids First, Inc. After the race, the Planes and Plows festival features vendors, food trucks, plane rides, a parade, and an airshow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
