Red Dirt Ultra
The Red Dirt Ultra, held in Provencal, Louisiana, takes place on the scenic Sandstone and Caroline Dormon Trail within Kisatchie National Forest. Celebrating its 10th edition, this challenging ultra features rugged terrain with loose and hard-packed sand, stream crossings, climbs, descents, and long runnable stretches through longleaf pines alongside Kisatchie Bayou. The event offers two distances: a 50K (approximately 33 miles) and a 100K (about 66 miles), both with an 18-hour cutoff.
Known for its supportive community, aid stations are staffed by experienced ultra runners, and vegan food options are available. The race emphasizes camaraderie and well-organized support for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
