Event information
The Allianz Richmond Marathon, CarMax Richmond Half Marathon, and VCU Health Richmond 8k take place in Richmond, Virginia on November 15, 2025. The event weekend includes in-person and virtual options, plus a Richmond Challenge that combines all three distances with two completed virtually during November. The CarMax Richmond Half Marathon distance is 13.1 miles. The VCU Health Richmond 8k is 4.97 miles. This edition is the 48th running.
Registration, capacity, and race services
All three in-person events reached capacity and on-site registration is closed; waiting lists are used to notify runners if spots open. Published entry fees for 2025 were $165 for the marathon, $155 for the half marathon, and $65 for the 8k. Age minimums are 16+ for the marathon, 12+ for the half, and 6+ for the 8k. The event offers virtual race options during November and virtual training teams.
Policies, pace teams, and charity
Entry fees are non-refundable and entries cannot be transferred to another person. Deferrals to the 2026 event are allowed to the same distance only, with deadlines and tiered deferral fees (for example, $10 for the 8k and $25 for half/full through September 15; higher fees apply after that). Distance switches are permitted online or at the Expo by set deadlines with a $10 switch fee and additional charge if moving up in distance. Pace teams are offered by the Richmond Road Runners Club for the marathon and half; pace-team registration is separate and free. The event charity is Sports Backers Youth Programs, which also offers donation-based registration discounts for certain events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
