Event overview
The Run for the Last Mile is a 5K road event held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, on the campus of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey (300 Pompton Road, 07470). The race is officially registered, USATF sanctioned, and part of the USATF-NJ Grand Prix as a 500-point race. The course runs across campus pathways and rolling hills and includes on-course sound support from William Paterson University’s BRAVE NEW RADIO.
Proceeds support the Last Mile Fund, a scholarship that helps students who face financial barriers in their final semesters and need funds to complete remaining courses.
Format and additional details
The event welcomes runners, joggers, and walkers and allows participation by individuals and teams, including community groups, student organizations, staff, and faculty. Awards are given to top racers by individual categories and to teams, with recognition for team spirit, enthusiasm, and course performance. The first 250 registrants will receive a t-shirt. A student discount is available using the code student2025. The Barwick Group is identified as a major sponsor and organizing partner.
