Run the Chop Challenge

Murdick's Run the Chop Challenge is a long-standing Vineyard Haven tradition held annually on July 4th. The 2025 event features a 4-mile road race loop around West Chop, starting and finishing near Saint Augustine Church on Franklin Street, close to the Vineyard Haven boat dock. The race supports local youth programs and has raised over $130,000 for organizations like the Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

Alongside the main race, a Kids' Fun Run is offered, making it a family-friendly event. Due to construction, the course has been slightly adjusted, and parking is limited, encouraging alternative transportation. Awards are given to top finishers in various categories.
