Run the Runway - Wheeling

Run the Runway at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois, offers a USATF-certified 5K Run, a 1 Mile Walk, a Kids Dash, and a Virtual option on the main runway and taxiways; the 5K is chip-timed. The event celebrates Chicagoland’s oldest airport as it marks a 100-year milestone, with a post-race festival featuring music, food, giveaways, and kids activities, plus podium awards. Strollers and wagons are welcome; pets are not allowed.

Parking is off-site. Proceeds benefit local aviation scholarships. New routes and layout are planned for 2026, and the event invites volunteers and sponsors to participate.
