Event overview
Running Up For Air - Grandeur is part of the Up For Air Series of endurance events. The series supports organizations working on air quality and directs proceeds to selected non-profit groups. The event was created in 2012 to raise funds for improved air quality along the Wasatch Front. It is presented with a minimal footprint philosophy and aims to expose participants to science-based material about healthy air.
Format and location
The event is a winter endurance challenge on Grandeur Peak in the Wasatch Mountains. The course is an out-and-back from the Church Fork picnic area to the summit of Grandeur Peak at 8,299 feet elevation. One lap is 5.8 miles with about 2,600 feet of climb; participants repeat laps as many times as possible within the chosen event duration. The route is almost entirely snow covered in February and can involve harsh winter mountain conditions.
