The Running With The Cows event takes place on May 9, 2026, in Bucyrus, Kansas at Holy Rosary Wea School, 22705 Metcalf Road. Events include the following distances and formats:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
- Virtual Half Marathon
- Virtual 5K
- Kids Fun Run 5K (open to ages 12 and under)
Listed entry fees are $75 for the half marathon, $35 for the 5K, $65 for the virtual half, $50 for the virtual 5K, and $20 for the kids run. Prices for the in-person half marathon and 5K increase after November 26, 2025. Virtual registration closes on May 9, 2026. Registration for the Kids Fun Run opens January 19, 2026.
Course and logistics
The race starts and finishes at Holy Rosary Wea School and follows a rural course with rolling hills and countryside. The course is fully supported and staffed by volunteers. Post-race food is provided, including allergy-friendly options. In-person participants receive a race shirt and a bib with timing chip at packet pickup; virtual packets are not available at packet pickup. Leftover in-person packets will be available at Holy Rosary Wea School on race morning starting at 6am at the registration tent. Virtual registrants are mailed their medal and T-shirt after May 10; packets are usually mailed the week after the race. There are awards for age group, top overall, and top masters.
